Visit to our link school in Kenya - October 2011

Mrs Bernard, Mrs Tait, Mrs Robertson and Mrs Chiffers have returned form a very successful visit to Gilwadzi Primary school in Kenya.  We were made very welcome and looked after extremely well.  We spent a couple of days in the small city of Kisumu, by Lake Vctoria and then spent 4 days in school, being hosted at the homes of Josephat, the head teacher, and Solomon, a teacher who visited us in February. Here are some photos to give you an idea what it was like:

Fishing boat on Lake Victoria.

Hippos close to the boat!

Local market in Kisumu - this lady is selling many kinds of beans.

This lady showed us how she made the baskets.

We visited a womena and orphans self-help group where they
make crafts and paper beads for the markets.

Gilwadzi school is pretty much exactly on the equator.
This is the group of teachers who travelled from Brookside, Elmhurst,
Walton, Catott and Coxley schools, by the equator sign on the main road.
